Midday - Friday 13th!
Apologies for the radio silence from Ruth II since we departed. There was
one blog effort a few days ago which failed to go (I think) so trying again,
this time without a photo.
The first few days out were a mix of fabulous reaching in SW winds of 15/18
Kts, and motor sailing particularly during the night as the winds died away.
We hugged the coast for the first 70NN, passing inside a few of the offshore
islands as the South Atlantic High was closer to the African continent than
usual.
The log from Cape Town as of now reads 520NM, good progress given the
lighter winds over the first few days and today we are galloping along with
the wind finally behind us.
The crew are in good form with excellent meals after being served, mainly by
Par but with a superb, possibly prize winning, effort by Mary yesterday. No
pressure of the rest of us!
Hopefully this one will send!
